Venue Requirements and How That Affects Your options for Entertainment

Are you thinking to possess a fantastic rock and more importantly pop or funk accompanied by soul band at the wedding? There are a few things you will need to check in advance with the booking. Most importantly consult your wedding venue and see what requirements they have that a wedding band must make contact with. It is always smallest when booking your entertainment deliver them all the details that they have to know as soon as possible. This can help save force on everyone's part.

There's been horror stories formerly where a band comes to for a wedding and turned away mainly because lack of PAT trying. There's nothing the band will do, nothing the venue will do and nothing the happily married couple can do the following is a check list of things you have to be sure of before agreeing a cover band for your birthday party.

PAT testing and Public Liability Insurance

Speak your wedding venue and see if they need your band to make them PAT tested and insured while you book. This isn't always necessary but sometimes is and a venue can turn your band away on the night if not. PAT testing means Portable Appliance Testing and tests for safety in moving electrical equipment like any guitar amplifiers. It is easy to complete but can take a moment get organised as bands can have a lot of equipment. In one of the first cover bands I played in the venue turned on the verge of the bride three days prior to wedding and said make sure your band is PAT well built and insured. I a new two-day race against time to get 3 guitar amplifiers, two speakers, keyboards, lamps and multiple extensions, all of which were strewn across their own south at various holders and cases houses PAT tested and take out Insurance quote. Luckily, I got it sorted and also it was a stressful couple of days for me and bride who thought she wasn't going to secure a band. Now I confirm every covers band I play in is completely insured and PAT tested.

Sometimes a wedding venues insurance coverage is null if the band not have PAT testing or PLI so they are forced to turn the wedding band away. It is easily sorted though if you do have enough time so you should check what your area needs and tell your band in good time.

Sound Limiters

The bane in the rocky wedding bands way of life. Sound limiters cut the ability to the band when a set limit is reached so if there is a particularly loud involving a song it'll cut all sound. Venues may have no choice whether to put sound limiters up or dead. It is usually due to complaints from local residents which the Environmental Health be dragged into and usually results these slapping a badly set sound limiter with the venue.

More often than not DJ's have the ability to cope with as the music they play is compressed and so does not need loud peaks. A band having said that may have a loads of dynamic shifts in all of your music so it's trickier for them to stay inside the limiter.

Bands can anticipate a limiter by attractive smaller amps, electric drum kits or brushes in lieu of sticks to keep themselves inside level. It is worth getting your cover band or entertainment agency to see your wedding venue during soon stages of booking to be able to are all happy.

Instrument Restrictions

A few relationships I've organised have original the band to don't have a amps and use electric drum kits due to venues efforts to minimise decibels. Some bands are for fear that supply these but ensure that you get the scoop from your venue anytime you book a band. It has to be the venues job to inform you when you book only mention a band but tend to they forget.

The band will sound dissimilar to how they usually do but a far more professional wedding band will need to some great gadgets to help them achieve that big whisper without their usual problem.

In summary. If you want a band for your venue book with venue on these things...

  • Sound limiter - how low does it go?

  • Instrument restrictions - Do the band need an utility drum kit? Do they should use the venue PA?

  • PAT testing and Public liability insurance quote - Most bands totally have these. They run out per year thought so always keep band knows whether the placement requires it or a lot more.
